The Canada Border Service Agency (CBSA) has released a list of verification priorities for 2022. Compliance verification priorities are established at the beginning of each year and updates can be made throughout the year. They reflect CBSA’s assessment of non-compliance risk with customs rules for categories of imported goods. Paying close attention to these lists is paramount for importers that import these targeted commodities and the potential issues regarding regulatory compliance.
Importers that import any commodities on this list should prepare for a potential CBSA trade compliance verification audit, which may result in payment of additional duties, GST, interest and penalties for non-compliance.
Below is the list of the current verification priorities provided by the CBSA for 2022.
